Dr. Desmond Bell
Dr. Desmond Bell has more than 25 years of dedicated bedside practice as a doctor of podiatric medicine in Jacksonville, Florida. A highly regarded and well-respected clinician, educator, and organizational leader, Desmond is a Board Certified Wound Specialist and currently serves as the Chief Medical Officer for Omeza, an evidence-based medical technology company and consumer healthcare products company focused on healing and preventing the recurrence of chronic wounds. Dr Bell is the Founder and President of the Save A Leg, Save A Life Foundation, a multi-disciplinary non-profit organization dedicated to the reduction in lower extremity amputations and improving wound healing outcomes. Honored in 2009 and 2018 with the Frist Humanitarian Award, Dr. Bell has been further recognized and elected as a Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Glasgow and is a member of the CLI Global Society.
Dr. Randy Cook
Randy brings more than four decades of bedside practice as a general and vascular surgeon to Inside The Doctor’s Lounge. He is a well-respected clinician, educator, and organizational leader. He holds certifications from the American Board of Surgery and the American Board of Preventive Medicine in the Undersea and Hyperbaric Medicine subspecialty, as well as certifications from the American Professional Wound Care Association and the American Board of Wound Management. He is a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons and the Southeastern Surgical Congress, and formerly served as a designated medical examiner for the Federal Aviation Administration.
In addition to many years of clinical experience, he has also succeeded in multiple practice settings from solo practitioner to small single specialty group to large multispecialty clinic. During those clinical years, he was actively involved in the management and leadership structure, serving as Chairman of the Department of Surgery for Jackson Hospital in Montgomery, Alabama, as well as President of the Medical Staff and member of the hospital’s Board of Trustees. Upon leaving surgery, he served as the medical director of the Jackson Wound & Hyperbaric Medicine Center, and as a Zone Medical Director for Healogics, Inc., the largest wound care provider in the country, Randy oversaw wound care and hyperbaric medicine practices over a five state region in the southeastern U.S. He also served on the Board of Directors for The American Board of Wound Management and the American Professional Wound Care Association.
As a clinical educator, Randy’s expertise was highly-sought after within the wound care industry. He served as Chairman of the Education Committee for the Wound Healing Society and was a member of the Physician Exam Committee for the American Board of Wound Management where he developed examination criteria that established the standard for national certification. As a Physician Training Faculty member for Healogics, Inc., Randy trained physicians and mid-level providers in the science of wound care and hyperbaric medicine, treatment modalities, and practice requirements within outpatient treatment centers, hospital inpatient departments, and post-acute care facilities. His efforts in this area helped mold a generation of medical care providers.
The many years of clinical, managerial, and leadership experience have provided Randy with invaluable insight into the practice of medicine and medical practice management. His initiatives drove change within the industry.
Dr. Rick Zollinger
Rick Zollinger, MD, FACS, has more than three decades in general, cardiovascular and thoracic surgery as well as certification in Undersea and Hyperbaric Medicine. As a well-respected clinician, educator, and organizational leader, Rick has been a member of and held appointments with The American College of Surgeons, North Carolina Surgical Association, The Southern Surgical Society, The Society for Thoracic Surgery, and The International Surgical Society.
In addition to many years of clinical experience, Rick has also succeeded in multiple practice settings as a single practitioner to larger multi-specialty clinics. As founder of The Charlotte Cardiothoracic Surgical Group, Rick is well-versed in the requirements for growth of a successful practice and professional career. He has been actively involved in education and leadership roles, serving as Assistant Clinical Professor of Surgery for the Department of Vascular Surgery at UNC/Chapel Hill, Medical Director for Carolina Wound Care Center, Physician Training Faculty member and Area Medical Director for Diversified Clinical Services.
